About Surface Protective Solutions – SPS continues to develop what is considered to be one of the most advanced protective coatings in the industry. SPS coatings are engineered to increase durability and performance by utilizing advanced nanotechnology including graphene, the most studied material since winning the Nobel Prize in 2010. The SPS product development team works alongside our in-house chemist to further advance our technology and improve our products.

Graphene is said to be the “miracle material” due to an abundance of beneficial properties. Even in its simplest form, a one-atom-thick substance is the lightest, strongest, and thinnest material known to man. Being a carbon-based material coupled with the presence of oxygen functionalities, graphene oxide can be dispersed in organic solvents, water, and polymer matrixes. This compatibility as a filler with polymer coatings is crucial as it allows SPS coatings to benefit from their properties.

A Coatings Innovator with over 40 years experience and over 20 patents in the Specialty Coatings Industry. During my professional career, James has been employed with Pittsburgh-based companies, Koppers for 11 years and PPG Industries for 26 years. After he retired from PPG in 2015, he ventured out to California and worked one year with SDC Technologies in Irvine, CA, and then 14 months with MetaShield, a start-up company based in St. George, Utah. He then came back home to Pittsburgh and started his own company, NVISIONCOATINGS LLC, in 2019 as CEO and Founder.
James is passionate about applying my creativity and expertise in coating synthesis, formulation, and application, emphasizing innovative approaches in R&D to assist his clients in quickly introducing new products and processes into their markets.
For enjoyment, James and his wife Joyce love to visit wineries, listening/dancing to live bands, hiking, trails-biking, chasing waterfalls, entertaining their children and grandchildren, and enjoying their backyard for at least 3 of the 4 seasons in Pittsburgh!
Sarah is a vibrant, hardworking team member who is rarely seen without a smile. Drawing from a diverse background in sales and marketing, she fosters meaningful connections and is renowned for being a joy to collaborate with. Sarah is driven by her passion for creativity and cultivating a lasting legacy. She will always go the extra mile to help another person.
Outside the office, Sarah is a true adventurer, fueled by a love for travel and a thirst for new experiences. Whether exploring across seas or diving into the latest fitness craze, she approaches each endeavour with enthusiasm and curiosity. In quieter moments, you’ll find her engrossed in a good book or cherishing quality time with family and friends.
